Wyatt posed like a pro when Aunt Sami followed him around on Easter Sunday snapping pictures of him in his fedora from his Pop. I am so thankful she is around to get pictures like this. They are perfect in every way!

Easter fun
We started off Easter at Justin’s parents’ house with all the traditional family fun and food. Wyatt was excited to tell everyone about the “me-size shovel” the Easter bunny brought him. The food was excellent and I wanted to slip into a food coma/nap immediately afterward.
Easter dinner #2 was started a bit late because Wyatt didn’t want to get up from his afternoon nap. I didn’t get a picture of the deliciousness that covered my Mama’s island but it was all fabulous. After we ate, Wyatt acted silly and wore Mimi’s glasses. I have some pictures Sami snapped of Wyatt but those will be in a separate post.
When we came home, Wyatt wanted to go outside and play in the mud on the dirt road. He had a blast and the dogs chased him all around. They all three love the water and after getting 6”+ of rain this week, they were surrounded by it.
Justin got the tractor out and fixed the road in front of our driveway so I could get to work the next day. He must have done a good job because I had no problems at all getting in and out.
Later that night, Amanda and Mrs. Desiree and Rivers brought over this tom cat. Their mama cat just had kittens and he was slinking around their yard. They were afraid the tom cat would kill the new babies, so they brought him to our house. He is gorgeous, but I haven’t seen him since that day. I feed him and the food is gone everyday so either he’s eating or I’m feeding someone else’s cat.

Suzi’s Baby Shower
Last weekend, Sami and I hosted a baby shower for Suzi at our house. It had rained for nearly 36 hours and I am so thankful for the guests that braved my dirt road to come. I obviously lack in photography skills. I snapped these with my iPhone.
All of these pictures are from my incredibly uber-talented photo sister Sami:
Suzi’s SIL Becky made the adorable centerpiece. It is a diaper cake with great baby supplies.
My SIL Amanda painted this sign for Pax’s room and made all of the big fluffy chevron bows.
Mama made a veggie tray, three kinds of dips, a cheese ball, and the drinks.
Sami made a naked pound cake layered with homemade whipped cream and Calhoun Produce strawberries (Thanks, Mrs. Sheila!!!). Have I mentioned that I am completely surrounded by talented women and the only thing I can do is whip up a mean budget spreadsheet and mail merge labels from a database like nobody’s business? I would hope that all of this creativity would rub off on me but nothing so far.
It was a beautiful shower and everyone got her the most thoughtful gifts. I am so glad to be welcoming this baby boy into the world this summer!

Rivers is 8!
I can’t believe that my only niece is eight years old now! Last Friday we celebrated her birthday. Amanda made her a gorgeous Barbie cake. She is so crafty and made this one in her KitchenAid mixer bowl. I never would have thought of that!
Wyatt helped open presents. He’s “camping” in Riv’s American Girl doll camping set we bought her.
Amanda’s best friend since before birth was there and I got to love on the squishy cheeks and chubby little legs of baby Abree. She is gorgeous and it gave me big time baby fever holding her! Wyatt said he “wants one of these kinds!”

More Yard Work
We are really blessed with the land we have at our new house. Justin tilled up a small strip for our garden. We planted 200+ sunflowers a few weeks ago. Justin bought corn, pumpkins, and gourds to fill out the rest of the garden. He had the cows for company and he was so patient with Wyatt helping.
Afterwards, we stopped to check in on the bees. I was really brave and scooted on my belly to get a shot of them coming in and out of the hive.
Roses are popping out everywhere! I think this one reminds me of Beauty and the Beast. The second one was a casualty of me snipping off the old dead blooms. I usually let my roses stay on the plants outside to brighten up the yard. Thankfully, this one is pretty and simple in a mason jar.
Justin raked two wagon loads of pine straw from a neighbor and I refreshed all of the flower beds around the house. Spreading pine straw is probably my favorite thing about yard work. It’s fairly simple, not too tiring, and it provides instant umph to old beds. I told Justin if he got me two more wagons full I’d find places to put it out- it’s almost therapy to me.
Of course, freshly spread pine straw is a dog magnet. Both of the girls wallowed around it in minutes after I put it out.
A mama bird has taken up residence under the fish cooker in our carport. There are five eggs in there. I can’t wait to see the babies!
