Late November Recap

Wyatt got some new duds from his Aunt Sami and Aunt Suzi. He will probably hate me for that bowtie one day, but I couldn’t resist!

I made some cheese straws with my own twist: I used Williams-Sonoma leaf cutters (originally for pie crusts) and made festive fall snacks for our work Thanksgiving pot luck and for around the house. They were a labor of love for sure- four and a half hours for one big quadrupled batch!

Justin and I attend the Georgia Agribusiness Council’s Harvest Celebration in Atlanta and got all decked out. We had a great time.

Wyatt tested out the kids’ recliners on Black Friday at Wally World. He didn’t get one of these but I’m pretty sure Santa might have purchased one in town the other day for him Smile

Apples galore

We have had a busy weekend. We made 11 pints of apple butter, 6 quarts of applesauce, and 24 quarts of apple pie filling. I am about sick of apples! At least my house smells delicious.

Halloween Hijinks!

IMG_0851

This was the very first year I have been able to get Justin to dress up for Halloween in a real costume! Since he went to fire safety clown school a few months ago, he has been really excited about Halloween. We got Wyatt dressed up in his dragon costume, I suited up with a Cleopatra outfit (sans the black hair), and had a great time passing out candy. We had a lot fewer trick or treaters this year, which I think was due to the downtown trick or treat activities having been held the night before. We still had a great time with family, sharing taco soup and passing out big bowls full of candy.

Ellijay, Georgia

IMG_0648
After we wrapped up our AGL session, Justin and I made one last pit stop in Athens to grab a bite to eat at The Varsity and then made our way over to Marietta, home of the cutest little square and downtown, and visited the trick shop where Justin racked up on clown stuff.

My mama and my sister Sami met us in Ellijay with Wyatt. I was so glad to see him because I had never been away from him for more than two nights. I was one happy, happy mama, y’all! IMG_0660
We stayed at the Best Western Mountain View Inn in Ellijay and if you ever need a place to stay, we definitely recommend it.
These pictures were taken outside of a small shop in Blue Ridge called A Taste of Amish. We got the most heavenly bread ever there. The baker was pulling about ten loaves out of the oven when we got there.

We spent a good bit of time at Hillcrest Orchards playing with the animals, listening to music, and playing on the slides.

Wyatt and I even got to milk our very first cow together.

We also came home with two and a half bushels of apples that we’re going to make into applesauce, apple pie filling, and apple butter. More on that later!
