Let them eat cake!!!

Hello lovelies! I am so excited about my new cake projects! I searched Cafe Press and came up with these beauties:

I didn't take note of the designers, though :(

Hubbs, if you read this, please feel free to buy me one of each!
P.S. Can I please have this one from one of my very favorite bloggers, Bakerella?

BIG Weekend!

I had a really great, really long weekend! I was able to get off work a bit early on Friday and enjoyed some good time with my hubbs.

Saturday morning, we were in our high school stadium, sitting through the light and icky mist, watching my baby sister graduate. She was the salutatorian (2nd in her class) and the STAR student, which means she had the highest SAT score in her class as well.

I am so proud of her! She will be going to Armstrong in Savannah in the fall as part of their honors' program to become a college history professor. My middle sister is making her mark in Valdosta for early childhood education. I'm really proud of her too! Mama and Daddy wanted to spread their tuition bucks around the state and I'd say they are doing a pretty good job of it.

Afterwards, we had at graduation party at my parents' house. My hubbs grilled pork chops, hot dogs, chicken wings AND boston butt (YUMMM!!!!)
Here is the cake I made for my sister:

Sunday was pretty calm. My mama bought me the most awesome cake tip set from Wilton:

I can't wait to try it out!!!

Monday was Memorial Day. I am so proud of those who serve our country!

Hubbs grilled out again, and on a break from the grill sat on our brand new swing he built us last week. He's so great with that kind of stuff! Skie couldn't help but join him. She's so big and clumsy!

Mow wasn't too impressed...he watched from inside with disdain for the entire outdoors:

I hope your weekend was just as fun!

Randomness

Here is my latest creation:

One of the girls I work with is getting married and we're having a small shower for her at work today. I made this cake on the fly...I don't claim to be an expert!

Also, I got the most awesome Vera Bradley taxi wallet for my birthday from my parents and my little sister got me a new breast cancer awareness pin:

They know me so well!

P.S. How about my cute firefightin' hubbs?!? We got matching hats ONLY because the first one I ordered him is too small for his big old head! I don't usually wear a hat, especially if it's like this one without a hole in the back for a pony tail, but I'd hate to let this one go to waste.

My Paramedic

Wow! I had a busy few days. Hubbs graduated from Paramedic school on Thursday and I am SOOO proud of him. It's been really hard with him being gone three days a week, plus his regular 24 hour shifts every third day. On the other hand, I lived THREE HOURS AWAY for four years while he waited patiently for me to graduate college and for us to get married. Either way, I am so proud of him!

I made him this cake on Sunday when we celebrated his graduation and both of our mamas for Mothers' Day. Please understand--this is the very first time I have ever made homemade icing and also the first time I have decorated a cake with more than those sugar letters you peel off cardboard from the grocery store. More later yall!

Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

Enjoy one of these to celebrate this

Tonight I will be living it up with some yummy Mexican fare and awaiting the end of my 22nd year. Yep, that's right--I will be the big 2-3 tomorrow!

Money Saving Machine!

I have been a money-saving fool this weekend. You'll notice my year-to-date spending is a little high this week, but that was because of a few items that totaled up to $60 for my mama. She reimbursed me, so it's not really as high as it seems. My entire merchandise total has reached $604.50 for the year! That gives me over a 66% savings!

Today, I took advantage of my Febreeze Noticibles coupons from this Sunday's paper, and I also used 3 $2 coupons for Aveeno (available online here--you can only print two per computer so you'll have to borrow someone else's computer for the third).

The Aveeno Daily Moisturizing lotion is 20% off this week, making each only $0.29 each after coupons! Because I bought three Aveeno products, I also got their handy little travel essentials kit for the right price--FREE! I also picked up a Diet Mountain Dew for my cowoker (not on sale) that she reimbursed me for. My total came out to be $2.26, $1.50 of which was reimbursement, so I only paid $0.76 out of pocket, and used $6 in Register Rewards!

Coupon Blogs

Hello Bloggies! I have changed my list of "Blogs I'm Following" (click on my picture on the right to get there) to only the coupon blogs that I read. Blogger won't let me import my 200+ subscriptions, and since I'm getting so many requests for the sites I read, I figured this would be easier than listing them all of the time.

Also, I recommend that you take advantage of Google Reader or my personal favorite Feed Demon. Here's a screen shot of my Feed Demon (not a great pic, FYI):

These are blog aggregators that create a newspaper-type report of new updates to the blogs you select. Once you have read an item, you can mark it as read and it won't come up again. This is how I read so many blogs daily and keep my sanity. I have created a handy file that you can use to add all of these coupon sites to your blog reader all at once, without having to type them in manually. If you would like for me to send it to you, email me at:

honeysugahdahlin at gmail dot com. (Type it like a regular email address, just cuts down on my spam without a clickable link)

Good luck with all of your deals!
