Mexico Beach

The week of Memorial Day, the Cook and Perry families were going camping at Mexico Beach in Florida. Wyatt was going down with Sheldon and Desiree for the week. Justin and I talked to Amanda and decided we would come down for the weekend and surprise everyone. Even Wyatt didn't know we were coming. We showed up Friday night and stayed until Tuesday. Unfortunately a stomach bug was going around so they ended up coming home earlier than planned on Thursday. We had a good time spending one very long day on the beach, a day exploring Goodwills, and some fun times in the pool. Wyatt got a pretty rough sunburn the first day so he took it fairly easy the rest of the week. Georgia did great because we had a little tide pool in front of us and Mrs. Desiree had a kiddie pool for her too. We took her little beach tent and she slept for 3 hours one day.

Fashion Ten

While I was at Lake Lanier, my friend invited me to take a boat ride with them. It was unusually chilly for May so I ran to the nearest store to grab a light wrap. I slid into the parking lot of what looked to be a little clothing store and rushed in 10 minutes before closing. I was AMAZED! This store was way bigger than it looked from the front. At this point I was slightly out of breath and told the salesperson what I needed. She brought be over to a rack of wraps and I grabbed one up. It was only $10. Then I looked around. The store was called Fashion Ten but I didn't realize that their business model was that EVERYTHING was pretty much $10! I had to rush out because they were closing but I made haste to get there the next day after the conference wrapped up. I got so much cute stuff that it would definitely be worth a trip back up there to refresh my wardrobe in a few months. The sales staff was so patient. I am the kind of person that has to try on 30 things to find 2 I like. I ended up with 13 shirts, tunics, dresses, and leggings! I am so glad I found this gem.

Work Lately

I have had a great time this past month at work. I visited Mitchell County and was able to speak at the ground breaking for MitCo Grow, a partnership between the emerging citrus industry and the local correctional facility. The inmates learned about irrigation systems and citrus farming and the produce they grow will be used in their food system. Really cool concept!

Later in the month I headed up to Lake Lanier Islands for the Georgia Economic Developers Association spring workshop. I had a great time. My friend works for an EMC and invited me out with their group on a houseboat for dinner. We had a lot of fun and I made a lot of professional connections in a relaxed environment. The scenery didn't seem to shabby either!

One of the most fun excursions I have done on a conference tour recently was tour the King's Hawaiian bakery. We learned how economic developers on local, regional, and state levels came together to make it happen. After we had a delicious BBQ lunch we took a facility tour. My favorite part was eating some of those delicious rolls right off the hot line with a bit of butter!

Georgia 1 Year Photos

I love snapping shots of Sami in action! See the crutches? She was still willing to hobble around a mosquito-laden dirt road to snap these gorgeous photos of our peachy princess for her first birthday!
