Wedding fun!

The past two weekends, I headed back to Statesboro, my home for four years during college, for my roommate's bachelorette party and wedding to the man of her dreams. I had a blast! It was great to see everyone again and everything turned out so beautifully!
The bachelorette with her crown!
My sister caught the bouquet...but she's got a few more years of college to get throught first!
I think this is my favorite picture from the whole day...Erica was absolutely beaming and she sure wasn't afraid of getting up on that chair!
Their favors were awesome! Erica made them herself. They're white chocolate covered Oreos with their last initial on top and they taste JUST like Hershey's Cookies n Cream bars (which happen to be my favorite)!
My roommate Amanda is the best! We lived together for all four years of college after being randomly matched through the dorm computer system. I got so lucky!
The four roomies! Emily (polka dotted dress & MOH) and Erica (bride) are fraternal twins.
For Father's Day, I made my dad a cake with a picture (if you could call it that) of his two-seater airplane. He got his pilot's license last year and absolutely loves it!

Here are some random pics I have taken around the house too:

I made stuffed bell peppers for supper last night with fresh-out-of-the-field peppers from work! YUM!

Happy Summer!!!

Well yall, it's officially here...SUMMER! Unfortunately this is the very first summer I don't have off from work or school--DUH- you grow up, get married and a REAL job and summers off don't exist anymore *sadness*.

I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine and vacation time!

I. CAN'T. WAIT.!!!!!!

I am so excited about Tim Burton's remake of Alice in Wonderland!!!! I love love love Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway!

Here are some of the newly-released promo shots I snagged from Perez Hilton's site:
Everything looks great, except how could Burton turn one of the world's hunkiest men into something that looks like Carrot Top, the semi-man comedian?
I think his vision and style is awesome and I couldn't have picked a better movie (other than Willy Wonka, of course) that suits him more!
According to IMDB, the film is set to be released on March 5, 2010.

19 Reasons to Take a Nap

19 reasons to take a nap

Ellen Michaud with Julie Bain

Yeah, we know. You didn't sleep well last night. So why not take a nap? Studies show that not only will you feel better almost immediately, says Sara Mednick, PhD, a sleep medicine researcher at the University of California at San Diego and author of Take a Nap! Change Your Life, but a daily nap of between 20 and 90 minutes before 4:00 pm will also increase your mental performance, reduce your chances of gaining weight, and make you feel a whole lot more like having sex after dinner than you probably do now. What's more, it won't affect your nighttime sleep.

All told, a nap, according to Dr. Mednick, will:

• Increase your on-the-job alertness by 100 percent
• Sharpen your thinking so you make more accurate judgments and better decisions
• Ramp up your productivity
• Regenerate skin cells so you look younger
• Increase your sex drive
• Help you lose weight by altering metabolism and shifting chemicals that affect appetite
• Reduce your risk of heart attack, stroke, irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, and other cardiovascular problems
• Lift your mood by bathing your brain in the neurotransmitter serotonin
• Speed up your ability to perform motor tasks, like typing, operating machinery, even swimming
• Improve your accuracy—in everything
• Improve the way your body processes carbs, which reduces your risk of diabetes
• Sharpen your senses so you take in what's important in your environment—and screen out the 24-hour culture chatter that surrounds us
• Put your brain into its creative gear so you can come up with fresh ideas
• Trigger a naturally occurring hormone that blocks the destructive chemicals produced by stress• Boost your ability to learn something new—and, better yet, remember it
• Zap the need for drugs like caffeine and alcohol to manipulate your mood and energy level
• Relieve migraines
• Improve your nighttime sleep by eliminating that wired feeling and thus shutting off the brain chatter
• Make you feel good all over

BIG Weekend!

I had a really great, really long weekend! I was able to get off work a bit early on Friday and enjoyed some good time with my hubbs.

Saturday morning, we were in our high school stadium, sitting through the light and icky mist, watching my baby sister graduate. She was the salutatorian (2nd in her class) and the STAR student, which means she had the highest SAT score in her class as well.

I am so proud of her! She will be going to Armstrong in Savannah in the fall as part of their honors' program to become a college history professor. My middle sister is making her mark in Valdosta for early childhood education. I'm really proud of her too! Mama and Daddy wanted to spread their tuition bucks around the state and I'd say they are doing a pretty good job of it.

Afterwards, we had at graduation party at my parents' house. My hubbs grilled pork chops, hot dogs, chicken wings AND boston butt (YUMMM!!!!)
Here is the cake I made for my sister:

Sunday was pretty calm. My mama bought me the most awesome cake tip set from Wilton:

I can't wait to try it out!!!

Monday was Memorial Day. I am so proud of those who serve our country!

Hubbs grilled out again, and on a break from the grill sat on our brand new swing he built us last week. He's so great with that kind of stuff! Skie couldn't help but join him. She's so big and clumsy!

Mow wasn't too impressed...he watched from inside with disdain for the entire outdoors:

I hope your weekend was just as fun!

Randomness

Here is my latest creation:

One of the girls I work with is getting married and we're having a small shower for her at work today. I made this cake on the fly...I don't claim to be an expert!

Also, I got the most awesome Vera Bradley taxi wallet for my birthday from my parents and my little sister got me a new breast cancer awareness pin:

They know me so well!

P.S. How about my cute firefightin' hubbs?!? We got matching hats ONLY because the first one I ordered him is too small for his big old head! I don't usually wear a hat, especially if it's like this one without a hole in the back for a pony tail, but I'd hate to let this one go to waste.
