Sweet Thing Apparel

Not too long ago, I told yall about Southern Belle shirts. I have come across another absolutely cute shirt shop: "Sweet Thing Apparel":http://www.sweetthingstore.com/default.asp

I love these designs! I can't wait to get my hands on some. Please go check them out!
*Note--I'm not paid to do this--I just want to spread the cuteness!

Jolly Jolly Jolly

I found this lovely on the Lilly blog:

It's a circa-1960 Fiat Jolly. What a cute little car! I would love to have this cute to scoot around town in. With its wicker seats and vintage style and hot pink paint job, I would be the talk of the town. According to Wickipedia, there are only around 100 left in the world. I guess that means I won't be getting my hands on one any time soon. :( A girl can dream, right?

Never iron a four leaf clover...

. . . because you don't want to press your luck!

I hope everyone's day is full of fun----enjoy some green and celebrate!

I can feel it

I was browsing through the obituaries today (that's the best way to learn family trees in a small town) and came across this:

Mrs. X, died March 14, 2009, just as bluebells begin to emerge. Born in State on Date, she valued strong family ties, cooperation, equality, justice, and forgiveness. Her life was governed by the Golden Rule.

When WWII brought GI’s to George Field, Mrs. met Mr., a handsome soldier from Tift Co, GA. They married Date (over 60 years ago). While Mr. served with the US Air Corps in the China-Burma-India Theater, she moved to State, where she applied her aptitude for math at the Carnegie Institute testing metal strengths.

She was a natural educator. She read to her children as infants. She encouraged curiosity & persistence. She knew the importance of nature and enjoyed tramping wild areas to observe birds and wildflowers. With her guidance the family created exhibitions of seashells, geodes, fossils, arrowheads, toads and turtles. She enjoyed gardening and preserving what she and Jerry produced. Her family loved her vegetable soup, fresh rye bread, homemade noodles and pies, lemon meringue being a specialty.

I blocked out the personal details to protect the family. I never knew this woman. I really want to openly weep after reading this. I am sad I did not know her. She seemed like a great woman-- well-loved by everyone. I can only hope that when my time comes, I can be reflected upon with the same kind of warmth and respect.

Just a little ambition to get my life in line and live it to the best of my ability. I encourage yall to do the same. Make someone smile today!

Weekend Recap

Hey yall! I had a nice long weekend and I wanted to post some pics from my fun times. First, here is the basket I made for my seven year-old cousin, Devyn. She loved it!
Also, I have the most beautiful tree growing in my back yard. It is just the most simple little twiggy tree with no leaves--only these adorable purple buds all over it! I picked a branch and trimmed the twigs and put them in my favorite tea pitcher for my living room.

Lastly, it is strawberry season in South Georgia and I think I am going to make myself sick and broke eating all of these delicious red berries! I bought these from our local strawberry farm and they are almost ALL gone!

How was your weekend?

X Shot

Can I just say one thing? My bestie, Lori, and I are always getting laughed at because we take more pictures of ourselves than any one else. At our wedding, my hubbs Justin and his sister Amanda made sure they snuck in a "Sarah and Lori" shot before the ceremony. They say that's what we look like all the time. (They obviously didn't take this one!)
Here is said proof that we like pictures of ourselves:

But sweet Hubbs can fall victim to my picture-snapping ways. This was taken while we were on our honeymoon on a helicopter tour:

Well friends, I have found a solution to my problem: an X Shot. This little puppy is only about $30 and you can buy one at xshotpix.com. Pretty nifty huh? I should have thought of this sooner :)

Perpetual Kid

Hey yall! I was reading Ladies' Home Journal online today and I re-discovered an awesome site I have known about for several years.

Perpetualkid.com is an awesome site for funky gifts. They have some wildly inappropriate gag gifts too! I searched through their fun site and got some really cool gifts for my sisters and roommates last year for Christmas. I got several variations of the X-Ray bag including the makeup bag below and a fabric grocery tote. Check out my cool finds:

This would have saved me sooooo much hand washing time in high school. I was involved in every club and event imaginable! If I didn't have something written on my hand, people thought I was sick. Fortunately, smart phones have become more popular (and affordable!) so I don't have to look like a high schooler with notes on my palm!
This would be so cute on my desk. It would be a great conversation piece and is much more interesting than those standard issue paper clip cube holders.

I think this creamer glass is adorable! I wish I drank coffee or used milk in my hot tea. Sadly, I would use it that often and I think it would clutter our tee-niney house even more.

What fun! My nephews and niece would love this! Who didn't like to lick the bowl when their mama or grandmom was cooking. That was a big part of why I was such a big help in the kitchen.

Touche! This one says it all. :)

Sometimes the stars align...

Hello lovelies! This weekend was wonderful. I couldn't have asked for a better time.

So here's my latest bit of excitement: I was watching TV with my hubbs last night and came across Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I LOVE LOVE LOVE HP!

Much to my excitement, at the very point I turned on the movie, I got to lay my eyes on Robert Pattinson and Daniel Radcliff and the very same moment. That just made my day! I swore I wasn't going to read a "stupid book about little kid wizards," but sure enough, I picked up the series and by the time the seventh book arrived at Walmart, guess who was in line at 12:00 am with her younger sisters waiting for her very own copy? Yep. Sadly it was me. I devoured that book in all of five days! Not only did I jump on the Harry Potter bandwagon a little late, I also missed out on Twilight until this summer, despite my bestie practically shoving the books down my throat. I came back with my usual: "I don't want to read stupid vampire books!" (See above: Notice a trend?) When I finally caved in, I ripped through those books at lightning speed too. I can't wait for the last book to come out!

I also watched The Secret Life of Bees this weekend. Yall, you need to watch this one! Dakota Fanning is possibly the best actress of her generation. That girl has skills. I looked her up on IMDB.com and guess what?!? She's a Georgia girl too from Conyers, GA! I knew I liked her. Oh, and thanks to my buddy Perez Hilton, I just found out she's officially Jane on the second Twilight movie! Can I just say I think I might have died and gone to heaven?!?

I need to take a break before I swoon! Have a great day~

Weekend Plans

So, I'm sorry for the blog blitz, but I've been so busy this week I haven't had time to get on here.

This weekend is going to be great!

I purchased these flowers (actually seeds) to plant in our flower beds on Saturday because we will be right in the middle of an 80 degree weekend!

I got these lovely seeds at the Dollar Tree for a dime a pack, so the verdict's still out until we see some sprouts.

Also, I got this idea from Craftynest and came across a pair of shutters beside the road yesterday so take a peek at my weekend craft project for our second bedroom/craft/sewing room:

Last but not least, we have a birthday party for my little cousin--she's turning 7! It's always great to see family.
Hope yall have a great weekend!

Living Room Redesign

I have been thinking a LOT lately about redecorating my living room and getting new furniture. Here's what I have been drooling over lately:

I would also love to have this desk:

Because green shirts are for pimps

I just wanted to take a minute and show you the shirt my hubbs had on when I got home two days ago. Yes--it does say "green shirts are for pimps." I don't know where he gets this stuff. Honestly.

Weekend Fun

Hey yall!
After catching up on my feeds, it looks like everyone got snow but us! Sunday, we spent time at Hubbs' parents house and our cutie-patootie nephews and niece were there waiting for the snow to come. Here they are:

Also, my sweetie had the house sooooo clean when I got home from work on Friday afternoon! I have such a great man :) While he was at work on Saturday I managed to clean out our linen closet. We got really nice towels as wedding gifts, so I decided it was time to move our mismatched towels elsewhere. Lo and behold, I pulled out EIGHTEEN(18!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) mismatched towels that Hubbs and I have accumulated throughout college and the past several years. Needless to say, they have been moved to the doggie bath pile, so we don't ruin our pretty new towels giving Skie her baths.

P.S. Strawberries are ripe for the picking here in South Georgia. My FIL bought a flat this weekend from a man in Plant City, FL because he didn't know our local strawberries were ready. SIL Amanda whipped up some yummy chocolate covered strawberries while I made a poundcake. Eat your hearts out!
